Among other things in our new-to-us home, the existing light fixtures were at the top of my list of least-favorite items. They weren’t old, or even super offensive. They were just, well, everywhere. The kind of lighting you can walk into your local Lowes, Home Depot, or Walmart and find a surplus of. And if you have gleaned anything about me from this blog, it’s that I like what is uncommon or unusual.
There is one light fixture in particular that I am not fond of. I call it “the boob” light for obvious reasons. And the worst part is, it is the first thing I see everytime I walk into my home, because it’s in the entry way. It’s also the first thing that everyone else sees when the walk into my home. So I’m on a mission to replace it. STAT.
First off, I knew I needed to replace existing light with another flush mount light due to the standard 8 foot height of our ceilings. I also knew that it needed to be something kind of awesome. Because this is what our entryway looks like:
Kind of awesome, if I do say so myself! Another post on this wallpaper later. So, I began my quest to find an awesome replacement. I did a little (ok, a lot) research on flush mount lights, and rounded up my favorites for you based on aesthetic, size and price. I know $500 sounds like a high threshold, but let me tell you, most of the unique flush mounts out there start at about $1500, so I decided that $500 was a price cap I could stomach. No worries, though, because most of them hit the $150 mark.

Which ones are your favorites? Number 2 and 11 might be my faves for originality. Do you have a light that you’ve been staring, hate, and want to change? You know you have my vote to do it…
So which one did I pick? You’ll just have to wait and see… 😉
